J. Scott Petty

As a seasoned executive recruiting professional, Scott has established a successful track record of recruiting Board Directors, Chief Executive Officers, Chief Operating Officers, Chief Financial Officers and other key functional leaders for public, private equity backed and closely-held private companies.  His practice areas include Diversified Financial Services and General Industrial as well as the firm’s functional practices of Chief Financial Officers and Board of Directors.

Prior to joining Chartwell, Scott spent over a decade between his tenures with Heidrick & Struggles and Spencer Stuart. Over the course of his time with each firm, he led search practices in the real estate, financial services and industrial sectors recruiting senior management for clients across the country.

As a leading recruiter, he frequently presents on senior leadership topics through various association forums. In addition, Scott has published talent related articles over the years and has been quoted in The Wall Street Journal, various trade publications and The Dallas Business Journal.

Before entering the executive search industry, Scott worked for MACTEC, a global construction engineering consulting firm, where he was responsible for regional human resources.

Over the years, Scott has been involved as a board member or volunteer in various community organizations such as the West Dallas Community School, Providence Christian School, Sky Ranch Camps, Park Cities YMCA, Boy Scouts of America, and Highland Park Presbyterian Church.

Scott is a graduate of the University of Texas with a Bachelor's degree in psychology and minor in business management.  He and his family reside in Dallas, Texas.
